What Gandhi signifies in the modern world: obsolete ideology or man forever?

Gandhi believed that at the core of every religion was truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa) and the Golden Rule. It embodies many Western ideas that Gandhi was exposed to, but because it is anchored in ancient Indian culture and harnesses everlasting and universal moral and religious concepts, it contains much that is not at all new.
